We received some very hot and juicy news from an insider with one of the two mentioned telco’s for the Europe launch of the iPhone. Most important gossip is the news that Apple is planning on releasing three or four different iPhones in Europe; each with different specs.

Although Dutch enthousiasts will be dissappointed to hear that they have to wait until beginning of 2008, fellow Europeans in Germany, UK, France and Spain and/or Italy will be delighted to learn that this carrier is planning to start the iPhone launch in Europe in these countries. Our source also claims that the iPhone isn’t going to be subsidized, meaning that Apple will follow the same strategy in Europe as they did with AT&T. Subsidizing is not too uncommon for most of the European countries.

The iPhone will be sold with a special iPhone subscription, although no further details about this have been revealed. Quoted below is the (translated) e-mail which we received from this source.

- Holland -> beginning 2008
- G, UK & FR or SP or IT -> end 2007
- No subsidised iPhone (meaning no discount with contracts)
- In 2008 3 (or 4) new versions/variaties of the iPhone will be available for the European market (each with different specifications)
- iPhone will be sold with special iPhone subscription
